Tracfone I See a Pending Transaction Please Try Again in 5 Minutes

1. Tracfone annual ppd sim dilemma� need some help. VZW and ATT

   I�ll admit right away that I�m not so good at this anymore. 10+ years ago I was super active here buying $10 candybar phones on sale and amassing tons of minutes moving from phone to phone, but since then all the tech has changed, Tracfone has changed, and money is tighter� and I�m not as brave either. I find myself in an anxious spot here after jumping on the $24 1200/1200/3gb annual SIM cards. Please bear with me.

   Got the deal alert at the beginning of the month, Spouse�s TF needs a refill in September, was certain he was on AT&T, ordered card right away because the SD site said no prob activating as added airtime. I�m always willing to jump through a hoop or two for a good deal

   I got sloppy. Messaged husband with my great deal, he messages back that he checked and his Samsung Tracfone is actually on Verizon. (Old LG was ATT). Crap. I�m in the grocery store. Not wanting to miss the deal, I logged into his eBay acct and bought a VZW one. I was thinking �I can just switch my phone (unlocked Moto) ppd ATT Freedompop to Tracfone at the end of November when it expires since they don�t have a $50 plan anymore.� No idea this would all blow up in my face.

   I have both cards now, but in preparing to add time and mins to phone realize that his Verizon Tracfone is not going to accept this deal easily, and me waiting till Nov to activate the ATT sim is not a good idea either. I can�t quite wrap my head around what I can do to make this situation better, and I�m mad about that! I used to be good at thinking this stuff through, but I�ve had some health stuff happen that makes me go blank sometimes� which is where I am now.

   I messaged Tracfone EBay, explaining I bought the VZW card for an already active VZW Tracfone, hoping they�d be willing to instruct me or willing to add the airtime to the current sim, but they just wrote back and said it needs to be used on new activations of an unlocked non-tracfone.

   So I don�t know what to do besides attempt to return both cards, or offer them up on here or reddit. Can anyone step me through anything? Can we change over the Samsung Tracfone to ATT possibly? Or use my current unlocked phone to register the Verizon sim and then get it transferred back without messing up my phone or his? I don�t know if my unlocked phone works with Verizon (I think it should, but it�s with ATT now). His TF has a lot of minutes and data accumulated, we don�t want to risk losing that. Usually we buy the $80 annual thing and add a Turk code to it� so $25 had me excited, now I blew $50 and I�m losing sleep.

   I don�t know how to come out of my mess. I�d be really grateful if anyone can point me in a helpful direction.

3. The first thing to do is to find out if your unlocked Moto can be used to activate the Ebay preloaded SIM:

   1. Go to TF web site, select ACTIVATE-->I'm bringing my own phone-->select I don't have a SIM (I know you do have one)-->Select Verizon.
   2. The site will ask you to enter the Moto's IMEI. If it's on Verizon's "whitelist", it will come back and say your phone is Compatible, and ask you to buy a SIM. You can just exit out and read the next paragraph. If it says your phone is not compatible, stop here. We'll try to come up with another idea.

   Use your Moto's IMEI to ACTIVATE the ebay SIM WITH A TRANSFER from your husband's line. Use Chat if you don't know how to do it yourself online. Your husband's phone number, current buckets/days will be transferred to the Ebay SIM, then the preloaded units/days will be added on top of that. Test the ebay SIM in your Moto phone. Wait a day or two (so the transactions will have different dates, easier for a rep to sort things out if something goes wrong). Transfer service from the Ebay SIM back to your husband's Samsung phone. DO NOT just swap the Ebay SIM into his Samsung phone, that can cause you problems.

I tried 3 browsers on the ipad and 2 on a PC and I get the same thing when I go to Activate>bring my own phone>don't have a card>Verizon: The screen flashes twice with little moving bars in the center, the number is still in the box, but no error is displayed. It doesn't move forward, so it's just stuck at this screen. I'm guessing this is not what we want... I tried just the MEID, which is the same minus 1 number, same thing - screen flashes twice and stops. I put the wrong last digit and it goes to a new screen saying "device is not in valid format." I also tried tacking the numbers after the "/", but the screen dims and just hangs for 20 seconds or so and then says "transaction is pending for this device". I tried adding just a random number to the end and it also throws the "transaction is pending for this device" error. So that's messed up.

   I got the same results both logged out and logged in. I'm guessing this is not good news.

5. Just to verify that your browser is working OK, I just sent you a Private Message with the IMEI of my phone that will return the following screen after flashing the bars in the middle of the screens a few times. I used Windows 10 and Firefox 91.0.1 on my laptop.

6. I just tried the IMEI of my GSM-only phone, the bars in the middle of the screen flashed twice then the screen showed the IMEI with a green checkmark to the right, meaning it was checked. No other messages.

   It used to come back with one of 3 results:
   - Compatible, enter the SIM number or buy a SIM.
   - Not compatible. "Device is not eligible for service".
   - Compatible but there's an issue, usually because it's alread paired with an active Verizon SIM.

   I don't have any old verizon phones.

   If you have an ad blocker on the PC's browser, disable it and try again. In my experience TracFone website works best with Edge browser also.

8. I seem to get the green check mark on everything I put in. I get the message you posted in #5 when I put your number in. I guess that means my phone isn't what I thought it was. I've had it for about 2 years, but I guess I only have put in FP sims. Your description of the GSM phone entry is exactly what mine does.

11. People who have bought this SIM with bundled airtime have been able to get a Tracfone CSR to add the airtime to their current SIM.
    But no telling how many chats it would take to find a CSR willing to do this.

    You need to get on chat and have a CSR verify there is airtime associated with both SIMs. A lot of people found there was none and got a refund.
    As a last resort, you can ask e-Bay for a refund (claiming airtime is missing) and offer to send back the SIM. You either return it or TF e-Bay nullifies the SIM s/n rendering it useless to anyone. Tracfone loses nothing because you got nothing, you just trick them into accepting a return/refund.

    You may not have a problem using the AT&T SIM because TF will not ask what phone you are using it with... thus it can be used on a TF branded phone.

13. Ok, it took almost 90 minutes but I got it applied. I wouldn't recommend it though. The CS agent didn't seem to understand things very well, so maybe it was my mistake to not just try for a different rep. I gave her all the information and she paused several times to "check" on whatever, and then asked if I had an unlocked Verizon phone I could activate... so we weren't getting very far. She couldn't verify what airtime plan was on the card, and I thought maybe the card had nothing on it like others had mentioned, she said "we don't have a tool to check on the service card PIN through chat session. Don't worry. I will transfer you to another department for assistance or schedule a callback in order for you to be connected to the correct department that can provide assistance regarding your airtime card."

    I figured I had an hour in so far, I may as well speak to someone. The guy I got was super helpful, although the procedure was a pain. He knew what I was needing and assured me he could do it. I'm not sure what he did, because I didn't have any old phones on my account that he could use, but he got it activated and then transferred the service time to my current SIM.

    If I go into chat, can they verify that my ATT sim is valid without activating it? Then maybe I'd be safe to wait until November to activate that.

    It was fun going reading my private messages here from 2008-2009... we did some fun stuff with those old TF deals

15. I'm not sure, but you could try just adding the SIM to your account as a listing for future use. If the SIM is accepted, then it's in the system as "in play" i.e. the serial number has had something happen to it. If the SIM is rejected as "unrecognized", then it hasn't been used for anything and is blank so far.

    I think the chat reps see the same thing.
